What Is Geloscopy?

by Craig Shrives
Geloscopy is divination through the observation of a person's tone and type of laughter. The word has Greek origins — gelos, laughter + skopia, observation.

Prophecies were not achieved through the study of ordinary laughter but when the subject got themselves into a state of hysteria or even a trance.

As Bob Monkhouse once said: "When I told my careers' master I wanted to be a comedian, he laughed. He's not laughing now."
